Assessing Radon Risks As PGL's researchers have investigated the impact of building conditions on radon decay products, it has worked in concert with the US EPA to insure that its recommendations are consistent with US EPA radon policy. Much of this work has been done in conjunction with Region VIII EPA and in particular with Dr. Milton Lammering who was the Radiation Program Manager for Region VIII EPA from 1980 through 2001. In this capacity, Dr. Lammering was very instrumental in assessing radon risks from Uranium Mill Tailing clean-up efforts through residential radon concerns from naturally occurring radon. From his vantage point, he was able to witness assessments and health studies initially from radon decay product measurements, subsequently to radon measurements, and now to a combined radon and radon decay product approach. Dr. Lammering, and current Region VIII EPA management are supportive of the approach of using radon decay products as a criteria for assessing risk. Recently, Dr. Lammering was asked to provide his perspective in a short video format. To view this video click on the video link below. To read the dialogue instead, click on the dialogue link below.
